Clothing advice from a gamekeeper is invaluable. We can all have an opinion on what the best new tweed is, or what brand is the current darling of the shooting world, but if you really want to know which membranes are totally waterproof and breathable, what insulation is best at near or sub-zero temperatures, or which boots you can trust to keep your feet warm & dry during a long day on the hill, a keeper’s advice simply can’t be beat.
This knowledge is born of endless days in the field – often during weather which would have most of us battening down the hatches and running for the kettle.
At ArdMoor, we often ask our gamekeeper clients how their kit is coping, how is it working in different temperatures, environments, seasons. We then share this with our other customers, helping them to make the best decision when it comes to refurbishing their shooting and hunting wardrobe.
Our key purpose is to help all of our customers to get the most out of their time in the Great Outdoors. Having the right clothing, footwear and kit is but the first step on this journey; the real goal is to share an appreciation for the immense effort that goes on behind the scenes, for the months and years of hard graft undertaken in fantastic scenery and awful conditions.
Almost every aspect of the countryside that we are so privileged to enjoy today is only here as a direct consequence of actions & efforts going back multiple generations. Much of the work happening now will take years, decades, even centuries to come to fruition.
Similarly, we fully understand that what we do today is often not for our benefit, but for the benefit of the generations that will follow. For all of these reasons, part of our passion for the outdoors is to try to improve everyone’s awareness of what goes on it and hence why we support organisations like the NGO, SACS, the CLA, BGA, GWCT.
We also feel a great responsibility to give a voice to gamekeepers and to help increase the awareness and understanding of what they do. If you are keen to get involved as one of our experts, please do introduce yourself to our MD on anthony.stodart@ardmoor.co.uk
In the meantime, to help keepers and their families get kitted out with anything they might need for the coming season, we are delighted to be able to offer them 15% off everything at www.ardmoor.co.uk when they use the code NGO2020
